Katharine Berkoff is the new world champion in the 50 meter backstroke. Berkoff swam to the gold medal in 27.08 seconds to win the 50 LCM backstroke at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore! Congratulations Katharine!! Katharine’s mom Shirley was celebrating in the stands. Regan Smith captured the silver medal with a time of 27.25 seconds. It's official, Sy Pizzolato (BAC) has been named to represent Team USA in the Tokyo Deaflympics, Nov 2025! Through the approval and support of his college coach this coming fall, Sy will briefly interrupt his collegiate swim season to compete in Tokyo in November. Sy will be swiming in college at Augustana University. Sy must pay his own way to compete as a member of Team USA so a fundraiser has been set up to assit him and his family to travel to Tokyo. Analise Belasco, Bozeman Barracudas, and Michael Schermerhorn, Missoula YMCA Swim Team, were named the 2023-2024 Montana Swimming Sportspersons of the Year during the recent Montana Swimming House of Delegates meeting. The award honors high school juniors and seniors who show outstanding leadership, sportsmanship, team spirit, and service to their clubs and Montana Swimming. The 2025 Western Zone Short Course Championships will be held on February 14 - 17, 2025, in Irvine. The Montana High School State Swimming Meet is scheduled for the same date.
