The Montana Swimming officials voted on their annual awards at their meeting in October. JP Maganito (BOZ) received the Mark Hallgrimson Award for the Outstanding Stroke and Turn Official. Christina McColley (BOZ) received the Excellence in Officiating Award. Montana Swimming would like to recognize the outstanding contributions these two officials have made to the sport! USA Swimming is again offering each official one complimentary copy of the 2025 Rule Book -- just like they did last year. The Montana Swimming 2024-2028 time standards have been released. Almost every time standard has been changed from the last quad and many of those times are slower. Times that have been adjusted are marked with an asterisk *. All the 8 and under time standards are slower than the previous standards. The 13 and over 50 back/breast/fly times are slower except for the boys 50 butterfly yard and short course meter times which are the same as the previous times. Katharine Berkoff won gold as a member of the US women’s 4 x 100 medley relay! Katharine swam the lead off leg in preliminaries with a time of 58.98. The preliminary relay team included Katharine, Emma Weber, Alex Shackell, and Kate Douglass. In finals, the US women broke the word record and won a gold medal with a time of 3 minutes and 49.63 seconds. The team included Regan Smith, Lilly King, Gretchen Walsh, and Torre Huske. Katharine Berkoff won the bronze medal in the Women’s 100-meter backstroke at the Paris Olympics with atime of 57.98!! Katharine had a great start and turn and posted her fastest time at the Olympics. Katharine said it was "super special" and an "amazing experience". The women's 100-meter backstroke was a highly contested race featuring four of the fastest women in history.
