Analise Belasco, Bozeman Barracudas, and Michael Schermerhorn, Missoula YMCA Swim Team, were named the 2023-2024 Montana Swimming Sportspersons of the Year during the recent Montana Swimming House of Delegates meeting. The award honors high school juniors and seniors who show outstanding leadership, sportsmanship, team spirit, and service to their clubs and Montana Swimming.

Analise served as the Montana Swimming athlete representative for two years. She served as an athlete representative and group leader at the recent Montana – Wyoming Swimposium in Cody, WY. The Bozeman High School senior will be swimming in college this fall at the University of Redlands in Redlands, California. Analiese has a big smile, warm and welcoming personality, and cheers on the younger swimmers at practice and at swim meets. When she passed out awards to the younger swimmers at the championship meets, she made the swimmers feel like they had won a medal at the Olympics.

Michael is known around the state for cheering on all the swimmers at meets no matter what team they represent.  He represents the spirit of Team Montana at zones and other meets and is serving on the Montana Swimming Zone Team Committee. The Hellgate High School senior is a gifted singer participating in the Hellgate Choir and sang with the group at Carnegie Hall in New York City in May. Michael will continue swimming in college at University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Washington, this fall.

Winston Sundeen, Bozeman Barracudas, was also nominated for the sportsman of the year. Winston took a leadership position on the team with the passing of teammate Jack Moser. Winston encouraged both younger and older swimmers to swim on the team, cheering them on as they competed. Winston competed at the USA Swimming Junior National Championships and was named to the USA Swimming Scholastic All America Team. He will continue his swimming career at the University of Utah this fall.

Congratulations Analiese and Michael!!
