So You'd Like to Become a Coach? Here are the Requirements

 

The new USA Coach Certification program began September 1, 2022.

Officials and Coaches: You must show the meet referee, or designee, your USAS coach or official credentials/registration card to be allowed to coach or officiate at this meet and all other Montana Swimming meets. Please bring your mobile device with the USAS App to view your card or a printed copy of your registration card to the meet.

Foundation of Coaching 101 and 201 has been replaced by a course called "Quality Coaching Framework" ALL Coaches even if they have taken Foundation of Coaching 101/201 and are Grandfathered in, will still be required to complete this free course by June 6, 2023.


"Core Certification" is a requirement for brand new coaches to USA/S and cost is $50, this course will need to be completed by new coaches no later than Dec 31, 2023.

Updated USA Swimming Education Offerings -- USA Swimming University:

Guided directly by coach feedback, USA Swimming has updated its education catalog as of May 25, 2023, including a single location for access to all resources: USA Swimming University. 

USA Swimming University includes a redesign of USA Swimming’s Coach Certification Program, originally launched in September 2022. Key updates to the functionality and user experience were made to enhance the membership educational experience.  

Along with the updated Coach Certification Program, the University also includes Officials exams and access to membership resources like Athlete Protection Training (APT), Background Checks, Safe Sport Recognition Program (SSRP) and Safety Training for Swim Coaches (STSC). 

Key updates include: 

  • More efficient user experience 
  • Updated look & feel 
  • Ability to browse course offerings without logging in 
  • New and improved course offerings
