Hypoxic Blackout:

The reader may note this is often referred to as shallow-water blackout, or hyperventilation-induced hypoxia, or voluntary hyperventilation preceding underwater swimming or extended breath-holding.

Concussion Management:
Under the Dylan Steigers Protection of Youth Athletes Act all Montana coaches and officials involved in youth sports must complete annually the concussion training course offered either by the NFHS or CDC. Those involved also with high school sports must take the NFHS course annually after June 1 and prior to the start of the specific season. MT Swimming coaches and offcials are required to submit their concussion course certificate to the LSC registrar when first appplying as a coach or offcial. In subsequent years, the club should verify the course has been completed.
